In 2017, Michael Colligan launched the “Get a Grip on Lighting Podcast”, which quickly gained popularity within the lighting industry. The podcast has since become a go-to resource for industry insights and discussions.

Expanding Vision
In 1999, Bryan’s son, Michael, joined the company as a commissioned sales representative. In 2008, Michael and Bryan became business partners, with Michael taking on the role of vice president. Under their leadership, Atlas Lighting & Sales Ltd. flourished, eventually giving rise to the Lighting Solutions Group of Companies. This expansion included the creation of Lighting Solutions, an electrical contracting company specialising in maintaining, repairing, and upgrading energy-efficient lighting systems. Another addition was Waste Diversion, a lighting waste management company dedicated to recycling mercury-containing lighting products and other hard-to-recycle waste streams.

Foundations of Integrity
Atlas Lighting & Sales Ltd. was founded in 1977 by Bryan Colligan, who borrowed $200 from his mother to start the business from the back of his car and later operated out of his garage. Bryan’s journey began after he was fired from his sales manager position at a lighting company for refusing to sell, and instruct his sales reps to sell, “long life” light bulbs at a higher price. The company was behaving unethically by merely scratching the labels off regular lamps and relabelling them as “long life”—a practice Bryan could not condone.
