Upgrade Your Discontinued “Metric” Fluorescent Lamp to LED.

This page highlights an old, discontinued “Metric” T8 full spectrum fluorescent lamp, a peculiar standard unique to Canada. Despite the name, “Metric” lamps don’t follow the typical base-10 metric system (e.g., 1 km = 1000 m, 1 m = 100 cm). Instead, they’re simply measured in millimetres, with an odd length of 1160 mm—neither a tidy metre nor a standard four feet, but somewhere in between at just over forty five and five eigths of an inch. It’s a truly unique standard.

This fluorescent lamp is no longer in production and is unlikely to return. Fortunately, you can replace it with a modern LED “Metric” tube. But LED Metric do not come in the colour “Full Spectrum” so you will have to accept a different colour temperature.
